British Council Nigeria signs up for HawkSight Software

21/12/2017

British Council Nigeria has signed an annual contract for HawkSight SRM's award-winning security risk management solution, HawkSight Software powered by Esri.

The contract further underpins HawkSight SRM’s ongoing relationship with the non-departmental public body [NDPB] with which it has been working, in conjunction with Pilgrims Group Ltd, for over two years.

British Council Nigeria joins a rapidly expanding client list for the newly launched Esri powered version of the software which includes enhanced ArcGIS functionality – such as scalable mapping with global-to-local overview, live incident feed capability, selectable satellite tracking overlays, comprehensive risk assessment.

This latest collaboration will enable British Council Nigeria to continue the internalisation of its security risk assessment and management through the upskilling of its internal security team.

An early adopter of the first version of the solution, it has been fundamental to British Council Nigeria’s expansion of its Cultural Relations programmes across English, Education, Society and Exams. It has been significant in the growth of its business and has had a hugely positive impact on educational programmes in the region.

In the first instance, HawkSight Consultancy was responsible for training staff both in the latest methodology of risk and also the use of HawkSight Software. That training has allowed British Council Nigeria to efficiently assess the security risk to its projects and to develop security controls that reflect the ever-changing security risk environment in which it operates.

Stephen King, Head of Security for British Council Nigeria said: “We’re excited to be working with the latest version of this ground-breaking software. By enabling our security teams to apply standardised methodology to our security risk assessments we’ve increasingly been able to manage our own risk management process.

“The combination of critical information and overlay of current and historical threat data in a map format gives us the ability to make informed decisions and to mitigate risk effectively. It’s undoubtedly contributed hugely to the expansion of the programme, and has transformed our approach to security management.

“Working with HawkSight Software powered by Esri means that we can instigate and update security threat analysis, risk assessments, and risk treatment plans in hours rather than the days or weeks it took previously.

“With its new powerful Esri ArcGIS interface, our ability to visualise projects from a national, regional and local perspective, as well as having the option to incorporate live tracking data feeds for personnel and vehicles, takes this latest version of the software to a whole new level.”

Customisable and scalable, HawkSight Software puts security control measures in the hands of its users and allows them to accurately reflect organisational risk appetite, produce risk assessments and risk mitigation strategies as well as then monitor and manage their implementation.

Paul Mercer, Managing Director of HawkSight SRM commented: “We’re delighted to be progressing our relationship with British Council Nigeria. Since the outset, when we worked with them in the field to develop protocols for efficient daily threat monitoring and to ensure that existing security controls remained relevant in an extraordinarily volatile environment, it’s been apparent that the methodology which underpins HawkSight Software will help in the process of keeping people, projects and vital infrastructure safe. I believe that HawkSight Software is the future of security risk management.”
